I recently bought a standalone, battery-powered jump starter. Days before it arrived, the seller sent instructions, so I take it they are important. Heaven forbid I print them out. Also, I wanted to filter what was least obvious or what I hadn't already accounted for.
First, my "cheat sheet," then the raw email from the seller.

I believe it was 75% charged when I got it. It took several hours to fully charge.
I have not needed to do a jump start, but I plugged it up to my car battery to confirm that I got a solid green light on the cable attachment (as opposed to the jumper battery). I could hear a clicking every 2 seconds or so, probably from a coil / capacitor. As I remember, the light flashes back and forth green-red when the cables are attached to the jumper batter but not the car battery.
